I’ve been pretty much out of archery for a number of years since our shire lost our practice range (the college we practiced at built a dorm on it) but I bought myself a Kassai horsebow last Pennsic and I’m currently doing myself up a batch of arrows to go with it. The horsebow is fantastic. They don’t stack until around 32 inches, 4 inches over my draw so the draw and release is extremely smooth. It has no arrow shelf, which is a decidedly different shooting style than I’m used to, but I’m looking forward to learning it.
It’s been 5+ years since I made arrows and I was seriously shocked at how much the supplies had gone up, especially shafts which are running 200% of what they used to. Not to mention that my favorite supplier, Silver Arrow Archery, has gone out of business. I remember the supplies for a dozen arrows being in the $25 range from Silver Arrow, it’s now almost $60 from 3Rivers.
I’ll post some pics as soon as I take some.
I haven’t decided yet if I’m going to sell the longbow.
